My fav magazine in the late 70's was CREEM & every March they had the best Readers Choice Awards IMO.
They were not as pretentious as Rolling Stone & more in-line with real fans that followed the various scenes

As you can see Cheap Trick & particular Rick killed in the polls!

You are welcome
It took me a long time to find it. but glad I did.
I loved Creem & being a huge Trick fan & seeing them kill in all the awards that year was a lot of fun.
I was 17 at the time, so it was a big deal Big Grin

PS ... I had 16 out of the top 25 albums
Pretty proud of that since I was 16 & needed to take a bus to the mall to even buy one Smile

My first Trick concert was on 05/25/1979
They headlined the Palladium in NYC with The Rockets opening

They did Day Tripper as part of their encore & within a month, every cover band in NY/NJ scene started doing Day Tripper Big Grin

For top album you might notice they had the #3 and 4 spots while AC/DC which was the radio darling back them with Back in Black was way down this list.
