The number of people who have said that there is no point on releasing new records just saddens me.

Agree. As an older musician myself, I think it just shows how passionate CT is about music. When you are a music "lifer" the urge or need to play and create never dies. All of the members also perform in other projects outside of CT. Always creating, always remaining viable and never resting on their laurels. Whatever they release will be welcomed by me. It may not be my all time favorite, but like every CT record, there will surely be at least a couple songs that showcase why they are one of the greatest American bands ever.

I've heard you shouldn't believe anything a member of Cheap Trick says untill it actually happens.  Big Grin

I rarely believe it after it happens.

RE: The New Album
When I heard "heavy" I thought CT97.. Dead Ant... I love that one, so bring it on. Although I prefer their poppier side, like Rockford better. Songs like Welcome to the World and Blood Red Lips, fun, happy, upbeat songs like nobody sings anymore are some of my favorites.

WOW...those are ALL great songs!!

Best Friend is magnificent.    Tongue

Love "Best Friend", Darran.  I saw them play it live at the Boulder Theater a few weeks before the release, weirdly I felt like the studio version didn't quite hit the same bar.  It wasn't a lack of intensity, I think Best Friend must have been a tough song to record and maybe it could have used another melodic part to make it more ominous.

RE: The New Album
I'm so grateful that they've continued to record new music. IMHO Their output since CT '97 has been a restoration almost unprecedented in rock, many of these songs stand up to the beauty of the first three albums. Hoping for more Pop Drone-y-ness on the new album. Liked lots of BZCH, but not a lot of upper octave strings to go around for those that miss the growl of the Chandler Royale. Of course there's one more realistic wish that would bring me a lot of happiness: more RN and TP penned songs.

RE: The New Album
Apparently that's what Rick told the crowd at one of the band's shows.
And with all the loves and hates and passions just like mine...
