Is this the final album of their BigMachine deal? Is there another deal in prospect?

I thought I heard at one point it was a 5 album deal. The only reason they did this is because the label asked if they wanted to. Not to finish contractual obligations like some suspect.

Show us the money, I thought I heard it was a 3 album deal?

Put it this way, if you had to record one last album to fulfill your contract would you make a Christmas album? I'd go out out with guns blazing not like this. I'm pretty sure I read in the press they did for BZCH that it was a 5 album deal.

Nothing to back it up with other than a memory of what I read. But like I said, if you had one album left on your contract and they said how would you like to use it to record a Christmas album. I'd say pass…we'll record one more proper studio album. I'm sure they will have another new one out next year again.

RE: Cheap Trick Christmas
Woke up this morning, to 20 degree temps, single digit wind chills and 4 inches of snow in Central NY. I told my girlfriend it felt like Christmas. So Merry Christmas CLP, for all the articles you share with us all. Then in my bathrobe and sweat pants I ripped Xmas Xmas to my PC. My PC plays through a THX certified setup so, this was the first time I heard Xmas Xmas to any length or quality. The quality is average but the CT factor is alive and throbbing. I swore Bun E, was playing in there awhile. Come Home for Christmas is outstanding the bass line gives me chills and that voice , well we all know that. Tracks 5 - 9 give a great traditional cover of Xmas. I Dont Want To Fight Tonight is a great twist. If CT has been a part of your life as it has been for many of us this is a must buy. It will give memories for years to come. It will be the only CT album I leaave to my kids in my will. They will remember!

RE: Cheap Trick Christmas
While I haven't posted in a century it seems (and my compliments are late) I must say the boys did (overall) a great job on the Christmas record. A few things I wasn't crazy about, so minor I will only mention one, which my criticism balances itself out, I think, but I'll get to that in a second. There's fun, beauty, spirituality (how could there not be?) and a few songs impressed me quite a bit. While I loved the replacement of "Steve Austin" to "Batman" in The Kinks' cover of Father Christmas to make it timely, I still like The Kinks version better. This might be the one track I felt was "phoned in." Regardless, it's good, just falls short of making a better version. Again, a minor complaint. What will forever make him the best vocalist in rock is present here, which is Robin's incredible voice. Just a stellar album to have to write a "theme" to. In a way, this was in a way a concept album, so it is perhaps tricky to do unless you cover a bunch of Christmas "standards." It was great, I was impressed.

This could not be more true and I hear people talk about that fact all the time.  The most underrated yet superior voices in the history of rock.  Well said, Steve.

RE: Cheap Trick Christmas
I am happy for them that they did this record----it is a rock record with a Christmas theme and it is fun to listen to. I was surprised that so many people were worried about their record deal and it seemed to impact the enjoyment of this record. now it looks like there wasn't anything to worry about, so I hope people can go back to it in the fall (or sooner if you want) and take it for what it is.
I have had mixed feelings on Julian's production since THE LATEST, which I felt had too much of him on it---but then again I still like that one a lot. but taken all together, BZCH + WAA + this Christmas album is a crazy run for the band, I am really happy for them. keep it going....
