Sax and harmonica? Bring it on! Sounds great. Id love to see some brass on stage with them especially for in crowd. Would be ace.

Its a Holiday CD. Doing some stuff out of box makes perfect sense

I've now listened a few times and... I LOVE it! All songs are dialed in. Favorites are Remember, Silent Night, Father Christmas, I Wish It Was Christmas Today, Our Father of Life. Gets better and better with each listen. Their three releases on Big Machine have been nothing short of phenomenal. Love the support Scott Borchetta has given. Makes all the difference in the world.

I bought one of the packages off Pledge (I had to have that sweater) but hope that's not the best part of the package! I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little worried this is going to be the coal in the stocking! Fingers crossed that's not the case.......
How many albums is the deal with Big Machine for? Did they rush out the two current albums just to be done with the deal? I don't think being with a major label has helped them much this go round.

It certainly has
The CD's prior nobody even knew were released
I thought The Latest got pretty decent promotion, and least they were touring as headliners doing full sets instead of just being an opening act.

The start of Silent Night reminds me of the start of Sid Vicious singing My Way.  Big Grin

It was the first thing I thought the first time I heard it. Didn't Tom say somewhere recently that Sids version of My Way was one of his favourite songs of all time?

First impressions of the Christmas album was that I thought it was rather overwrought, the biggest offenders being 'Silent Night' and 'Our Father of Life'. And I wasn't particularly smitten with the inclusion of saxophones and harmonicas on a couple of the songs.

But as far as rock Christmas albums go, it is pretty solid and would be perfect for a Chistmas party.

I wasn't thrilled with the concept when it was announced but waited to listen to it before I judged it.

Truth be told, I barely got through the whole thing. Almost turned it off during "Remember Christmas" and again on "Silent Night". I couldn't even bring myself around to giving it another listen. This will be on my self with the vinyl for another year. Maybe next Christmas I'll have a different opinion.

I did like hearing them play the blues on whatever track it was and thought Rick's playing overall was quite good. I'll be listening to The Doctor before this ever gets a spin again.

After listening to a few spins, the album is rather turgid. I like the Kinks and Slade songs best.
And with all the loves and hates and passions just like mine...
